A Christmas bonus of at least 152.45 euros was paid in mid-December to more than 2 million households. But some beneficiaries will be pleasantly surprised to receive the payment from CAF in January. Explanations.
2.3million households with modest incomes receive, as they do every year, the Christmas bonus. This aid, introduced in 1998, was normally paid to them before the end-of-year holidays. This boost for the most vulnerable households is intended for beneficiaries of certain social minima, such as the active solidarity income (RSA), the pension-equivalent allowance (EAR) or the specific solidarity allowance (SSA).
Others, on the other hand, do not take advantage of the Christmas bonus, which leads to numerous protests, especially among MoneyVox readers. This is the case for people receiving the disabled adult allowance or the vast majority of Ple emploi recipients.
A premium of at least 152.45 euros
The amount of the Christmas bonus, as in previous years, is 152.45 euros for ASS and AER beneficiaries. On the other hand, for RSA holders, it can change according to the composition of the household and reach 442.10 euros for a couple with 4 children for example. The CAF and the Mutualit sociale agricole (MSA) are responsible for transferring the Christmas bonus, as does Ple emploi in certain cases.

A January transfer
But not all beneficiaries benefit from this bonus in December. CAF informs that the payment will be triggered in January 2023 for beneficiaries of RSA, ASS or AER since December 2022.
