A tragedy shakes up the very large school Thomas Battersea in London. On Wednesday November 9, a teacher appeared in Westminster Magistrates Court to sexual offenses against minors and he admitted the facts. Thomas Battersea is a prestigious school, where the children of Kate Middleton and Prince William studied before leaving for Lambrook School near Ascot.

Matthew Smith, arrived in September 2022 and was the school’s “assistant pastoral director”. According to information from the Daily Mail, he pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against minors. The sentence has not yet been determined, a trial is to be held at a later date at Southwark Crown Court. Thomas’s Battersea School issued a statement and sent an email to parents who were very concerned about the situation. The royal family has not spoken on this case.

The royal family in turmoil

On November 7, Thomas Battersea School was told their new teacher Matthew Smith was under investigation by the National Crime Agency. The accused admitted the facts two days later. Prince George and Princess Charlotte both made their first comeback there, but they did not meet the professor there. In effect, the children of the royal couple left, in September 2022, when Matthew Smith arrived at Thomas Battersea School. The prestigious school brings together students from 4 to 13 years old, all from large English families.
