The case started in early August 2021 with anonymous information, sent to the organized crime department of the Paris Prefecture of Police: Snapchat accounts with more or less evocative names – of the type “doctor.house1390” – would broadcast anti-vaccine speeches and the prices for obtaining a fake health pass (from 250 to 330 euros, prices fluctuating depending on the places subject to the health pass).
The informant evokes the complicity of a doctor, but the investigation will show that the counterfeiters had no need for it. The modus operandi is almost too simple: after having been paid and having recovered the names and Social Security numbers of his customers, the forger hacks into the vaccine database. An operation that does not require any particular computer skills, since all you have to do is obtain the RPPS number (for “shared directory of health professionals”) of a doctor – public number and accessible from the Ameli or Doctolib sites – and send a request for authorization to open a session to the healthcare professional concerned.
If the latter validates the request, then the counterfeiter will be able to add as many false vaccinated as possible during his four hours of session, before disconnection.
