It was around 2 p.m. when a teenager drowned in a pond, just hours after his baccalaureate exam.
A drama unfolded in Ille-et-Vilaine. Many high school students in general and technological series are called this week to take the baccalaureate exams. These began this Wednesday with philosophy. But while many are in the middle of a review, and worry about their future, a tragic event has occurred. This Wednesday, June 14, 2023, a young man drowned in the pond of Saint-Symphorien, in Brittany. That day, he was not alone. Indeed, he was accompanied by several friends, with whom he had decided to meet after having worked on their morning test.
They were about twenty according to the testimonies. As the temperature hovered around 30 degrees, three of them decided to go swimming in the pond. According to people present on the spot, and who attended the scene, one of the teenagers quickly found himself in difficulty in the water, before drowning. It was 2 p.m. then. The emergency services were then called, and mobilized in order to be able to find the high school student.

Significant means implemented to rescue him
Alerted, the firefighters mobilized all possible means to come to the rescue of the teenager: divers, dogs or even a drone. After more than two hours of searching, the body of the young man was finally found. Rescuers tried everything to resuscitate the teenager. Unfortunately, the latter died despite the numerous cardiac massages practiced.
The young man was only 18 years old. A psychological unit has been set up for those who witnessed the scene, as well as for the schoolboy’s friends. An investigation is now open to determine under what precise circumstances this tragedy could have happened.
