Valve’s Steam Deck is one of the most popular handheld consoles, and the company’s recent release of the Top 100 Most Played Games list offers an interesting look at which titles are capturing gamers’ attention.
If you own a Steam Deck, you should be aware that some games have not been officially noted as compatible with the console, that is, they are “verified” by Valve teams. Today there are well over 1000 of them that meet the technical requirements of the portable console, but not everyone had the chance to make the list.
On March 14, Valve shared the list of the console’s 100 most popular titles, and what’s surprising is that 30% of these games are not officially verified for the portable device. However, this did not prevent them from being one of the flagship titles acclaimed by players.

Not all of the most played games on the Steam Deck are verified
Data reveals that gamers don’t just stick to verified games; they also delve into titles that haven’t been officially supported by the Steam Deck. Of the top 100 games, 27 are unverified or not officially supported.
We can notably cite recently released games, like Balatro, which have quickly climbed the ranks. We also find Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, a derivative of the famous mining shooter, also found high on the list, or even Deep Rock Galactic, which turns out to be perfectly suited to the portable nature of the Steam Deck.
Starfield, Bethesda’s sprawling space role-playing game, is another intriguing case. Although it is listed as “unsupported” and provides a pretty poor experience on the Steam Deck, he remains a favorite among players and ranks 46th on the list. Players therefore do not seem to favor fluidity and beautiful graphics at all in the games used on the console.
