A tragic domestic accident claims the life of a pregnant woman in the middle of a moment of relaxation


A young pregnant woman died on Sunday April 10 after being electrocuted in her bath. A tragic accident that would have been caused by the fall of a mobile phone in the water.

A tragic domestic accident. In Menestreau, in the Nièvre, a pregnant woman five months old, and aged 25 died on the evening of Sunday April 10 after having been electrocuted in his bath.

According to Republican Yonne, the victim’s body was found by her spouse around 10:40 p.m. The latter immediately called the emergency services, the firefighters and the Samu who then quickly arrived on the spot. Unfortunately, they could only see the death of the young woman.

40 deaths by electrocution every year

According to local newspaper information, the The victim’s mobile phone is believed to be the cause of his death. The device would indeed have fallen into the water of the bathtub. In charge on the sector, it would have thus caused the electrocution. The young woman, originally from Yonne and cook in a retirement home, leaves her companion totally devastated.

As L’Yonne Républicaine reminds us, this type of domestic accident is unfortunately not uncommon. The daily reports that “forty deaths by electrocution and some three thousand electrifications (passage of current in the body causing more or less serious injuries)” are counted each year in France by the National Observatory for Electrical Safety (ONSE).
