Undoubtedly the most personal project Bloober Team has ever done, The Medium will therefore be adapted into a television series, under the joint direction of filmmaker Tomasz Bagiński – who is also the series’ executive producer The Witcher on Netflix – and Piotr Babieno, president of the Krakow-based developer. It will thus be a co-production between Bloober Team and the Platige Image studio, two Polish companies, and no broadcaster has been mentioned for the moment.
An announcement about which Piotr Babieno said: “The story we told in the game was loved by players and now more people will be able to hear about it. The recent successes of game-based streaming platforms, such as “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” or “Arcane”, have shown that the time is right for such productions. Participation in the creative supervision of such an important figure in Polish cinematography as Tomasz Baginski proves that we want to create something truly amazing“. And it must be recognized that the original work does not lack visual and conceptual resources to lead to a successful adaptation.
As a reminder, the player embodies Marianne, a medium who has gone on the trail of her own history as well as that of Poland. A journey that will take her to the Niwa hotel complex, a remnant of the former Soviet Union, where she will explore her wounds and those of her country, venturing into the spiritual and pain-laden reverse side of this disturbing setting.
