Asus adds to its catalog of accessories a hub-C with the particularity of offering two video outputs with a definition of 3840 × 2160 pixels, or 4K. Availability and price are currently the only unknowns.

Asus should soon offer in France the Dual 4K USB-C Dock, a hub-C allowing two 4K screens to be connected to a computer via a simple USB-C cord. USB-C hubs are particularly popular among users of ultraportables with connectivity limited to two USB-C ports, in particular Apple MacBooks. The USB-C hub thus makes it possible to offer a whole slew of ports such as USB type A, Ethernet, HDMI or even card readers to computers that do not have them.

The Asus Dual 4K USB-C Dock hub measures 10.4 x 4.4 cm and is 1.4 cm thick. It comes with a 15cm USB-C 3.2 Gen2 cable. The on-board connectivity includes a USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port dedicated solely to data transfer, a second USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port supporting Power Delivery allowing computer charging up to 100 W, DisplayPort 1.4 and data transfer. data up to 5 Gbps. A USB 3.2 Gen2 type A port, an RJ45 port supporting the Gigabit standard and an HDMI 2.0 port complete the available outputs, but the SD card reader is on the other hand conspicuously absent from this hub.

Note that the HDMI 2.0 port supports a maximum of 4K definition at 60 Hz or Full HD at 144 Hz. However, the simultaneous use of the HDMI port and the Display Port will lower the refresh rate to 30 Hz, making the particularly unpleasant use, the fluidity becoming quite relative. Second limitation, the USB-C 3.2 port allowing the laptop charger to be connected to it is the same as the Display Port compatible one. This forces the user to choose between recharging or screen connected in Display Port.

The date and price of the Dual 4K USB-C Dock have not yet been communicated by Asus.
