As we know, the Unreal Engine can do wonders when it comes to creating new worlds. And one person has reimagined a video game icon by adding a very oppressive atmosphere!

Epic Games struck a blow with its Unreal Engine 5. First, the engine showed the extent of its capabilities via the demo Matrix Awakens. Many development studios have also chosen to opt for this new version. The engine is for example used on titles like Hellblade II or on the next production of The Coalition (gears). In addition, some independent creators manage to design rather original creations.

Thus, the YouTube channel named Funkyzeit Games recently uploaded a short gameplay footage of a “game” mario quite particular. Developed using the tools provided by the Unreal Engine 5, this demo immerses us in a mario much more mature. And we’re not going to lie to each other, it’s a bit disturbing… but also very successful!

Let’s just point out that this is not a real game, but simply a technical demonstration. This fan-made production will in no way be monetized or even released at a later date. It remains to be seen whether Nintendo appreciated the nod.
