The latest Android Auto update causes a very disabling bug for some users. Google has been alerted and its responses suggest that the firm does not intend to correct it. We explain to you.
Updates follow and look alike for Android Auto, the app for take advantage of the main functions of your mobile on the screen of your car. The problem is that the similarities seem to be limited to very annoying bugs. Towards the end of August, some users could no longer use voice commands on the app. Rather painful when the main purpose of the latter is to keep your hands on the wheel while interacting with it.
This time, they work, except that they drastically drop the audio quality of the music or podcasts being read by Android Auto. You play a song, everything is normal, then you say some voice command. As soon as it is finished, the song resumes but completely muffledalmost inaudible. Make a call or even receive notification can also cause this bug.

Google was of course alerted to the problem on its forums. This is where we notice the common point between the affected users: their central screen, which broadcasts Android Auto, turns with the system ZLink. This is software that allows you to run Android Auto, CarPlay from Apple and other platforms on most in-car devices. The problem is that Google considers thatthis is a pirated product not certified. The company therefore believes thatshe doesn’t have to make a fix.

Among the proposed solutions, we can see that restart Android Auto or the infotainment system only temporarily solves the problem. The only manipulation that currently works is to revert to an earlier version of the app. This is obviously a problem since as it stands, users should never update Android Auto again since Google does not want to deploy a solution. On the bug report page, an employee replies, “You are using main unit manufacturer ‘ZJ’, which is a pirated product from China. […] We can not do anything with it […] to resolve this problem”.
