Legal interest rates are up slightly. As a reminder, in the event of late payment of a debt, to an individual or to a company or an administration, these rates are used to calculate the amount of compensatory interest that you will have to pay. Updated every semester, the new rates were published on Saturday July 2 at Official newspaper and will therefore be the norm for the next 6 months.
How is the legal interest rate determined?
3.15% for debts to individuals
In accordance with Articles L. 313-2 and D. 313-1-A of the Monetary and Financial Code, the Banque de France calculates these rates every six months and communicates the results to the General Directorate of the Treasury no later than fifteen days before the chance of publication. The rates thus defined serve as a reference for the following semester. Those appearing in this judgment will thus be applicable to the second half of 2022, thus recalls the lgifrance site.
Since July 1, and until the end of December, the legal interest rate is now set at 3.15% (compared to 3.13% in the 1st half of 2022) for receivables from an individual, and 0, 77% (against 0.76% in the first half) for those to professionals.
