It is not because of a fashion effect that Carole Bouquet took up viticulture. Many stars have a vineyard: Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Georges Lucas, Francis Cabrel… Host Carole Gaessler even owns a prestigious estate in Provence. For the former partner of Gérard Depardieu (whom she strongly defended), it is a story that dates back more than 20 years ago, and it started in Italy.
The actress, currently recovering from an accident that left her with 30 stitches, spoke about this passion in an interview with Getaway Magazine. In the December 2023, January and February 2024 issue, she looks back on her discovery of Pantelleria, 27 years ago. On the recommendation of her friend Isabella Rosselini, she stayed there and “immediately fall in love with this island”, which saw the birth of his passion.

Surprised by “the very green, very poetic side of the landscapes” from Pantelleria, which seems austere but is not at all, Carole Bouquet is fascinated by “the work of the earth by men for millennia”. She moved there and it clicked: she was going to get into wine! She tells : “I had the chance to meet an extraordinary man, Nunzio Gorgone, it’s thanks to him that I learned everything and that I was able to create a very special wine”.
In fact, its wine is produced from terraced vines, worked by hand. So she had to rehabilitate the land she had purchased before starting. “I tried to make a wine to my taste, quite balanced from the zibibbo grape variety”, specifies the actress. “This wine requires three harvests and I named it Sangue d’oro because it is a difficult and rare wine to produce.”, she continues.
