This Sunday, August 1, in Aveyron, a woman was killed by her spouse, in all likelihood. The 50-year-old suspect allegedly attempted suicide afterwards.

According to West France, the 48-year-old victim was allegedly killed by stabbing, in the town of Calmont, near Rodez. She was found dead on a road in Bonnecombe, according to Free noon. Being alone with her husband at the time of the tragedy, he is now considered the main suspect in the investigation.

Himself wounded by a stabbing weapon, the man was then found between life and death and was taken on Sunday afternoon to a hospital center. The thesis of the suicide attempt was raised the same evening, according to Midi Libre.

The investigators of the gendarmerie and the technicians in criminal identification were still on the scene in the evening of Sunday, according to Press Center. According to the first elements of the investigation, the experts believe that it is a feminicide. For the moment, the Rodez prosecutor’s office has not made any comment but claims to have been seized of the case.

According to figures from the national study on violent deaths within the couple, shared by The Parisian, 125 domestic homicides were counted during the year 2020. Among them, the study identified 102 feminicides and 18% of these killed women had already filed a complaint.
