A year after the Buitoni affair, are we safe from a new health scandal?

It was a year ago to the day. On February 25, 2022, Public Health France alerted to the appearance of several serious cases of contamination with the E.coli bacterium in children. The beginnings of one of the biggest health scandals in recent years, caused by frozen pizzas from the Buitoni brand, owned by the giant Nestlé. In total, these products – withdrawn from the shelves from March 18 – will have contaminated 56 people, and above all caused the death of two children.

As with every such event,the Buitoni affairquestioned the effectiveness of the French food control system. Doubts accentuated by the shocking photos of the factory in question, in Caudry (North), revealing its deplorable hygienic conditions, as well as the occurrence of another case, a few weeks later, this time having for object chocolates Kinder.
