Scientists from the Ocean Exploration Trust have discovered, at a depth of more than 3,000 meters, a geological formation which strongly resembles a “yellow brick road”.
It was during one of their daily explorations that they broadcast on their youtube channel that scientists from the Ocean Exploration Trust (an NGO that explores the oceans in search of scientific discoveries) discovered, in the northwest of ‘Hawaii, at some 3,000 meters deep, a unique natural phenomenon.
“It’s the road to Atlandide”, announced, amazed, one of the researchers discovering the natural rock formation, located at the top of the Nootka seamount. This seamount is part of the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument, which is of great interest to researchers because only 3% of its perimeter, which extends over 1,510,000 km2, has been explored to date.
Far from being a supernatural or inexplicable manifestation, this “road” would in fact be due to a conjunction of natural facts. A volcanic eruption is said to have taken place, lining this part of the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument with a thin layer of lava, which would then have fractured at 90° in various places, due to temperature changes linked to the eruptions that followed it. here, giving this rock carpet its appearance of a yellow brick wall.
This is not the first time that unusual discoveries have taken place in the depths of the Pacific Ocean. A few months ago, in Monterey Bay, researchers revealed the existence of an impressive “ghost jellyfish”.
