This young mother died on March 12, 2021 while trying to give birth naturally to her second daughter. His family wonders if his death could have been avoided if they had been properly informed.
Lucy Howell, a 32 year old motherfrom Bishop’s Waltham, Hants, is died giving birth to her second daughter Pippa, March 12, 2021. The case of the death of this mother is heard at Winchester Criminal Court in the week of April 2, 2022, according to The Sun. The hearing follows a damning report published earlier in the week April 2, 2022 and that at least 200 babies and nine mothers have died as a result of failures in Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trustprecise The SUN. It was reported that Lucy Howell had gave birth to her first daughter in 2017 by caesarean section and that she had to undergo surgery to repair scars.
To give birth to her second daughter, Pippa, in March 2021, Lucy Howell tried natural childbirth, but it went wrong. His family, attorney Vanessa Cashman and coroner Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp believe Ms Howell was not well informed the risks she was taking in giving birth naturally. Lucy Howell is died from a ruptured uterus and amniotic fluid embolism. Lucy Howell has “was admitted to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester to be provoked. However, her uterus ruptured during childbirth and the baby was then born in her stomach“, according to The Sun.
This young mother would have received “contradictory advice”
Vanessa Cashman, Lucy Howell’s family lawyer said : “She received conflicting advice – if you can call it that“. Coroner Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp believes, for her part, that the statements provided by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust during the hearing do not provide full explanations about what happened. “For the family, the Trust must show that it has learned from what happened. “Corn they can’t learn from it unless there has been an open and candid explanation of what happened. The statements I’ve seen do not reflect this at the moment“, she said.
