A6 Avant e-tron concept: Audi presents its vision of the electric family station wagon


After the concept based on the A6 sedan presented in 2021, it is the turn of the Break version to be presented to the public by the German manufacturer.

Audi unveiled the concept of its future 100% electric Sportback sedan in April 2021 at the Beijing Motor Show. It is the turn of the station wagon version to appear on our screens under the name of “A6 Avant e-tron concept”. It was at the Geneva Motor Show that the concept should have been presented to the international press. But in the absence of a Geneva Motor Show, it is finally during the brand’s annual conference, and remotely, that we can discover on March 17, 2022 the first images and information of this novelty to come in the range of the German manufacturer. .

Common technical basis with the sedan concept

No surprise on the technical side, and that’s normal for this Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept. It shares the same platform as the sedan version, unveiled last year. The concept is therefore based on the Premium Platform Electric platform (PPE of its small name), with 800 volt architecture. Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT were the first models to use it.

The strength of this architecture is to allow fast charging up to 270 kW, thanks to 800 V technology. On the two Audi A6 Sportback and Avant concepts, it is above all a good autonomy of 700 km which is largely put forward . Given the Audi A6’s grand touring vocation, it’s a perfectly appropriate choice of technology.

These models will have two electric motors capable of delivering a total power of 350 kW and a torque of 800 Nm. Audi A6 Sportback e-tron and A6 Avant e-tron should offer fairly similar performance, both in terms of acceleration than efficiency.

A design sculpted as a single block

If the lines of the A6 Sedan concept have not been unanimous, especially at the rear, it is likely that the station wagon version will change the situation a bit. The profile and the rear of this A6 Avant e-tron concept are much closer to the spirit of Audi’s current range, while bringing a lot of innovations.

This concept fits well into the electric range that the brand with the rings is working to develop. The front face incorporates the markers of this new generation of vehicle. The dimensions of the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept remain fairly close to those of the current A6 range: 4.96 m long, 1.96 m wide and 1.44 m high.
