ABB: strategic collaboration with Swedish Boliden

(CercleFinance.com) – ABB announces a strategic collaboration with Boliden, a Swedish mining and smelting company, to establish a cooperation aimed at using low-carbon copper in its electromagnetic stirring equipment (EMS) and its high efficiency electric motors.

“The goal is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, while promoting the transition to a more circular economy,” says ABB.

In addition to the use of recycled copper, ABB is committed to increasing the use of recycled electrical steel (e-steel) and recycled aluminum.

‘As part of ABB’s 2030 sustainability strategy, our goal is to have 80% of our products and solutions covered by a circular approach. The collaboration with Boliden is an important step towards achieving this goal,’ said Ola Norén, Head of Metallurgical Products, Process Industries at ABB.
