Sweden celebrates winning the Eurovision Song Contest again. Next year, that much is already certain, the show will take place in the Scandinavian country. Now fans and British media are speculating: There could be a reunion of the Swedish cult band ABBA on this occasion!
The background to the speculation is that ABBA won the Grand Prix exactly 50 years ago, on April 6, 1974. Her hit “Waterloo” was the beginning of an unprecedented world career.
Is the band planning a comeback in their home country to mark the anniversary? The “Sun” quotes an insider stating: “Now that Sweden has won, people are betting their ‘money, money, money’ on an ABBA reunion.”
“It looks too much of a coincidence to me”
The speculation goes even further: Many fans even believe that Loreen (39) only won the Eurovision Song Contest so that Sweden will host the competition next year. This was deliberately decided to pave the way for an ABBA reunion. Fans are discussing the possible scenario on social media. “This whole ABBA anniversary and Sweden winning now seems TOO MUCH coincidence to me. I don’t know…” commented one user.
ABBA itself has not yet issued a statement on the subject.
