A documentary looks back on the greatest successes of the Swedish pop band ABBA. ProSieben will show the film as a German premiere in February.

They were one of the most famous pop groups of the 1970s: the Swedish cult band ABBA was founded in 1972, and over the years they have sold over 400 million albums. The documentation "ABBA – Songs for Eternity" sheds light on the secret of their success. In February it celebrates its German premiere on ProSieben. The station will then show the only concert recording "ABBA in Concert" in an HD version.

In the documentary, insiders report on their time together with the Swedish music legends. The film provides insights into the band's creative powerhouse on the Swedish island of Viggsö, shows previously unreleased recordings from the recording studio and takes a close look at three hits: "Mamma Mia", "Dancing Queen" and "The Winner Takes It All". The station rounds off the ABBA evening with what, according to ProSieben, is the only live concert recording of the band currently available. "ABBA in Concert" was created in 1979 as part of the band's second world tour in London's Wembley Arena.

Comeback announced

Anni-Frid Lyngstad (75), Agnetha Fältskog (70), Björn Ulvaeus (75) and Benny Andersson (74) never officially split up, but they did not perform together between 1986 and 2018. In 2021 the group should release not just two, but five new songs. This is what BBC radio journalist Geoff Lloyd (47) reported in the summer of 2020 after a conversation with ABBA member Björn Ulvaeus in his podcast "Reasons To Be Cheerful". In April 2018, the band announced two new songs that are said to have been recorded in a studio in Stockholm, Sweden.

ProSieben and Joyn will show "ABBA – Songs for Eternity" (OT: "ABBA: The Secrets Of Their Greatest Hits") on February 9th at 8:15 pm, "ABBA in Concert" follows on the same day at 9:20 pm .
