ABN Amro jumps, BNP Paribas has expressed interest according to Bloomberg


PARIS, June 17 (Reuters) – The shares of Dutch bank ABN Amro jumped on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange on Friday after reports from Bloomberg that BNP Paribas has expressed interest in buying the group.

The title gains 11.54% while in Paris, BNP Paribas wins 2.96%.

Bloomberg, which quotes unidentified sources, specifies that the first French bank recently contacted the Dutch government but that the latter is not seriously considering its proposal for the moment.

ABN Amro has been controlled by the Dutch state since its bailout during the financial crisis.
