Smart System brand power strips, sold in brands such as Leclerc or Carrefour, are recalled throughout France, due to the risk of short circuit and fire.
The public consumer information platform on product recalls, RappelConso, issued the alert on December 18, 2023. Three power strip models were scrutinized and deemed too dangerous to be kept on sale. If you purchased one or more from one of the hundreds of brands that offered them, you must return them without delay, to avoid any risk and be reimbursed.
Risks of short circuit and fire for these power strips
Not one, not two, but three power strips have just been recalled. They are each Smart System brand and were on sale in many well-known brands, such as Carrefour, Leclerc, Bricomarché, Bricorama, La Foir’Fouille, Centrakor, Auchan, Hyper U, Le Marché auxaffaires, Maxibazar, Mr Bricolage and others. others, everywhere in France.
The first recall concerns power strips under the name “Camet” with 6 and 7 plugs. Be sure to check that you read “Camet” on the back of the craft. It is still possible to identify the two models in different ways.
- Thanks to the two barcodes: 3560238508268 and 3560238508275.
- Thanks to their complete references: MULTIPRISE 6 FICHES 110033/90614 (Camet) for the first, MULTIPRISE 7 FICHES 110034/90312 (Camet) for the second.
The two power strips are subject to a “ premature damage to the power cable “. There is therefore a serious risk of short circuit and fire for both objects.
Power strips must be returned to the point of sale so that you can be reimbursed
The problem is exactly the same for the third model concerned. Still under the Smart System brand, it is possible to identify it using a barcode, 3560237555706. But here are the complete references of the object:
- 4-PLUG MULTI-PLUG IP44 164719/FPYX-K-4N (Hongyi).
It is important that the words “Hongyi” appear on the back of the power strip, to clearly identify it.
In addition to the fact that you must no longer use these three power strips, you must return them to the point of sale, where, as required by law, you will be reimbursed. The recall procedure will end on June 15, 2024. So you have time, but don’t wait too long.
