“Above the nose!”: Bas admonishes AfD to wear a mask correctly

“Over the nose!”
Bas warns AfD to wear a mask correctly

In the Bundestag, the members of the Bundestag sometimes have the same problems as the people outside in the country. There, too, there are contemporaries who do not wear their masks properly. They are now receiving a warning from President Bas of the Bundestag.

In the corona pandemic, wearing a mask is mandatory almost everywhere and almost everywhere you can see contemporaries who do not wear them over but under their noses. This is also the case in the Bundestag, where a warning from President Bärbel Bas has now been issued. During the debate on the tightening of the Infection Protection Act, she addressed the AfD MPs in particular in the morning. “Before I call the next speaker, thank you very much again that most of you are wearing the mask over your nose,” said the SPD politician.

“But I would like to speak to Dr. Baum again in the stands,” she continued. “You always wear the mask under your nose. I would like to kindly point out that you wear the mask over your nose. The point is that we all have as much protection as possible in this large room and also in Parliament with as many Members as possible It’s just a kind request to keep to these rules. ” In the stands sit MPs who are not vaccinated – they all belong to the AfD.

The MP Christina Baum acknowledged this with a wave of the hand and pulled the mask over her nose. But the AfD MPs did not want to let that sit on them. Stephan Brandner called into the hall that Bas wasn’t wearing the mask at all. The chairman replied that she was not obliged to do so, but that she would be happy to do so.

Bas immediately received applause from the next speaker. FDP politician Christine Aschenberg-Dugnus thanked her for the hint and said: “We are also sitting next to gentlemen, in this case, who unfortunately rump around particularly loudly and take off the mask and that makes this house more unsafe.”

After Aschenberg-Dugnus had commented on the actual topic of the meeting, the tightening of the Infection Protection Act, Bas spoke up again. “At the request of the AfD parliamentary group, I also put my mask on between the speakers.” And then she addressed someone who could have become her colleague: Michael Kaufmann, the AfD man who ran for Bundestag vice-president but did not get a majority. “Thank you, Professor Kaufmann, for pulling your mask over your nose, that’s a good agreement if we all do it.”
