Arte makes available free of charge the documentary Religieuses abusées, the other scandal of the Church, which gives voice to the sisters sexually assaulted by men of the Church. For the first time, religious victims openly confide in their intimate tragedy, breaking the omerta imposed by the Vatican.

The documentary by Marie-Pierre Raimbault and Éric Quintin delivers rare testimonies from mother superiors or men of the Church, including a close friend of Pope Francis, engaged in the fight against these sexual assaults. It explores the physical and psychological domination of certain manipulative and abusive priests.

In April 2019Arte had already broadcast the documentary, but the complaint of a German priest had forced the channel to wait for a court judgment in order to be able to broadcast it again.

The film highlights in particular that among these priests, some issued commandments allowing them to “to dispose of the nuns as they please”using “deviant doctrines” mixing spirituality and sexuality. They also forced the victims to have an abortion when they became pregnant. Chilling moments and poignant testimonies to discover in this shocking documentary.
