Eight suspected “Reich citizens” already in custody

A few hours after the raids on a suspected group of conspirators, Federal Public Prosecutor Frank announced that the suspected ringleader was already in custody. Interior Minister Faeser says that further investigations will show how far the coup plans have progressed.
Eight of the 25 suspects arrested on Wednesday from the Reich citizen scene are now in custody. That’s what Attorney General Peter Frank said in Karlsruhe. Among the eight people is the suspected ringleader Henry XIII. Prince Reuss. All other arrested persons would be brought before the investigating judges of the Federal Court of Justice today and tomorrow.
Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser said in Berlin that the investigations “allow us to look into the abyss of a terrorist threat from the Reich bourgeois milieu”. Further investigations would show how far the coup plans had progressed.
Federal Public Prosecutor Frank said that according to the investigators’ findings, the association was formed around Heinrich Prinz Reuss in November 2021. “The detainees cling to conspiracy myths consisting of various narratives of the Reich citizen ideology and the QAnon ideology.” Individual members of the group had considered using force to invade the German Bundestag.
The central body of the group is a “council” whose members have given themselves departmental responsibilities like the cabinet of a government. For example, a former member of the Bundestag was intended to be the “Minister of Justice”. It is known from reports that this is the AfD politician and judge Birgit Malsack-Winkemann.
In addition, “as far as we know, there is a military arm,” according to the Attorney General, who is supposed to build a new German army. Individual members of this military arm had been active in the Bundeswehr.
