Juve saves itself in the premier class
Juventus saved a disappointing season on the final day of the match. The team around superstar Ronaldo secured the Champions League millions in Bologna. Meanwhile, Master Inter turns up again in the home stadium at the end of the day.
AC Milan and Juventus Turin follow Italy’s soccer champions Inter Milan and Atalanta Bergamo in the Champions League million game. Juve won 4: 1 (3: 0) at FC Bologna, Milan won 2: 0 (1: 0) in Bergamo and finished the season in second place (79 points). Franck Kessié secured the runner-up for the guests – with a penalty kick (43rd) and a hand penalty in stoppage time (90 + 2).
The former series champion Juventus landed this time behind Atalanta in fourth place (both 78). Federico Chiesa (6th minute), Alvaro Morata (29th / 47th) and Adrien Rabiot (45th) shot Juve from fifth place on matchday 38 into the premier class. SSC Napoli (fifth after 1-1 against Hellas Verona) and Lazio Rome (6th after 2-0 at Sassuolo Calcio) booked the Europa League starting places.
Inter decided the city championship and the season for themselves.

Thousands of Inter fans had already celebrated the championship in front of the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in the afternoon. Tightly packed, with pyrotechnics, flags and partly without mouth and nose covers, they sang the team of coach Antonio Conte. Inter scored 91 out of a possible 114 points in 38 games and had been the champions since the beginning of May. Thus, the Nerazurri permanent champions Juventus Turin to superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who fell short of expectations this season. The spontaneous celebration of the Inter supporters in the heart of Milan at the beginning of May, when the championship was clear, caused criticism. Tens of thousands had been on the Domplatz and in the streets. Many had not worn protective masks – in Italy there is a mask requirement on the street – or kept distances due to the corona pandemic. Among other things, many people complained to the mayor about it on social media.
