access plans to Parisian stations on the day of the Olympic opening ceremony will be known “at the beginning of April”

Will it be possible, and if so how, to access the three Parisian stations (Gare de Lyon, Gare de Bercy and Gare d’Austerlitz) located in the security perimeters which will be put in place during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on July 26? “We will have the answers between the end of March and the beginning of April”assured the Minister of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra at the microphone of Franceinfo, Thursday March 14.

“We will clarify all transport plans for both spectators who will go to the ceremony [326 000 spectateurs sont attendus]but also for those who will not go there who will want to go on vacation »explained, adding that“a working group is in place to make all the necessary recommendations”.

On Wednesday March 13, while the SNCF had started selling train tickets for this summer, it appeared that it was not possible to reserve them for the departure or arrival of these three Parisian stations in the date of July 26 due to uncertainties over access to the latter. However, this Friday July 26 will be one of the biggest crossover weekends of the summer. The tickets “will be put on sale upon validation of the conditions for organizing the opening ceremony of Paris 2024 by the public authorities”explained the SNCF on its site.

Austerlitz and Bercy, from where the Intercités leave for Clermont-Ferrand, Limoges or Toulouse and night trains, but also the Gare de Lyon, the largest station in France for main lines, are located in one of the red zones defined by the Paris police headquarters, that is to say where motorized access will be prohibited. It should be possible to access them on foot or by public transport, although certain stations located on the banks of the Seine must be closed for security reasons.
