Serious traffic accident on Sunday afternoon in St. Johann im Walde in East Tyrol! A German driver (53) may have overlooked a motorcycle when turning left. The biker (28), who had just started to overtake, fell and was seriously injured.

The accident happened around 3:45 p.m. on the B108. The 53-year-old German was driving his car from St. Johann im Walde in the direction of Matrei in Osttirol and was looking for a parking space. To do this, he reduced his speed. Fatal overtaking maneuver The motorcyclist (28) driving behind the car therefore wanted to overtake the German. At that moment, the driver turned left. “The 28-year-old was able to brake, but collided with the car at right angles on the opposite lane,” the police said. The biker was flown to the hospital. The man was thrown from the motorcycle onto the windshield of the car and came to rest on a gravel lot. After first aid at the scene of the accident, he had to be flown to the district hospital in Lienz with serious injuries. “The driver and his passengers were unharmed, and both vehicles suffered considerable material damage,” the executive said.
