Accident in Pakistan: bus full of pilgrims crashes into gorge – 18 dead

At least 18 people were killed in a bus accident in southern Pakistan. The vehicle with 59 pilgrims on board fell into a ravine in Balochistan province on the way back from a religious ceremony, the authorities said on Friday. 41 people were injured.

Authorities believed the driver was driving too fast before losing control of the bus. Road accidents are common in Pakistan due to poor roads, poorly maintained vehicles and reckless driving. The accident occurred a few days after a train accident with more than 60 deaths, which the authorities attributed to a defective coupling. (AFP)
