A 72-year-old local had to be flown to the St. Johann hospital on Wednesday in Rettenschöss in the Unterland from an alpine area by an emergency helicopter.
The 72-year-old was around 2 p.m. with his tractor on a forest path in the Rettenbacher Alm area in the Rettenschöss municipality. He was driving down the valley in the direction of Feistenau when a health problem forced him to stop at a siding on the uphill side. The vehicle became overweight for an unknown reason and overturned on the slope, the driver suffered serious injuries. A witness who noticed the incident immediately provided first aid and set the rescue chain in motion. The 72-year-old finally had to be flown to the hospital in St. Johann by the emergency helicopter.
