Accident on the farm – farmer (64) fell into a cesspool and drowned

A 64-year-old farmer had fallen unnoticed into a cesspool on his farm in Kronstorf (Linz-Land district). After relatives reported him missing, several fire brigades pumped the liquid manure out of the shaft and found the man’s body.

A 64-year-old farmer died horribly in Kronstorf. The man, who lives alone, had apparently fallen through the wooden cover of the cesspool in his yard in the past few days and drowned miserably. Gloves and cell phone next to the cover There are no witnesses to the accident. His brother (65) sounded the alarm after not reaching the 64-year-old and checking on site. The relatives noticed that a board was missing from the rotten liquid manure cover. Next to it were the mobile phone and the work gloves of the missing person. Contrary to his assurances, the farmer had not previously appeared at a funeral. Four fire brigade teams arrived. The Kronstorf and Alkoven fire brigades, the high-altitude rescue team from the Axberg fire brigade and the Linz-Land district fire brigade command were directed to the scene. says Helmut Födermayr, FF commander of the Linz-Land district. Divers with breathing masks recovered the dead. There was no more help for the man. An emergency doctor could only determine his death. How long the farmer was in the shaft is still unclear. A crisis intervention team took care of the relatives. The police are investigating.
