A 22-year-old man drove backwards at the wheel of a snow groomer in front of the vehicle depot. He overlooked a pedestrian who was with her granddaughter immediately behind the rear of the vehicle. The woman and the toddler were caught by the snow groomer while reversing.
Investigation initiated
The 73-year-old woman succumbed to her serious injuries at the scene of the accident. The 2-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident and was flown by helicopter to the Inselspital in Bern.
The deceased victim is a Swiss woman who lives in the canton of Lucerne. The prosecutor has opened an investigation. Those affected would receive psychological care, the message said.
