We’ve been watching Acer’s Vero series for a while now. At this time last year, we took a close look at the Acer Aspire Vero notebook, which is available in either 14 or 15.6 inch sizes, and also went into detail about the repairability of the components. Now the Taiwanese computer manufacturer has announced the new Acer Aspire Vero 16.
The model has the internal name AV16-51P and will celebrate its official premiere at CES in Las Vegas in early 2024. So anyone who believed that the first Vero models were electronic flashes in the pan was obviously wrong. Because, as it says in a press release from the manufacturer:
Acer today introduced the new Aspire Vero 16 (AV16-51P) and with this expansion of the Aspire Vero notebook series has clearly underlined its ambitious sustainability efforts. In compliance with international standards for carbon footprint calculation and carbon neutrality, measures are taken at every stage of a device’s life cycle to best minimize the environmental footprint.

This text is peppered with a whole series of footnotes, which is not unusual. The footnotes state, among other things, that the carbon footprint is validated by a third party in accordance with the ISO standard. But you don’t have to worry about ISO 14067 and PAS2060 at all. Because the device has very tangible advantages to offer.

The case, which according to Acer is made of 60 percent recycled plastic, is an eye-catcher. In any case, it stands out clearly from the usual gray or black of current notebooks. Individual colored sprinkles contrast with this. The large-format trackpad is partly made of OBP (Ocean Bound Plastic). This refers to plastics that come from waterways, coasts or beaches and are at risk of ending up in the sea.
Price and availability
Acer is still keeping the exact technical features under wraps. This also applies to the price. We expect these details to be revealed at CES 2024.
