Acer expands its line oflaptop with the Swift Edge, claiming to be the lightest device equipped with a 16″ OLED screen in the world.
In addition to its ultraportable nature, it does not seem to budge on the technical sheet side, in order to accompany those who can afford it even on a hike (because why not).
16-inch OLED and lightness
As manufacturers race to deliver an OLED laptop that combines performance, durability and lightness, Acer seems to have taken the lead with the announcement of its Swift Edge.
Its main feature is of course its 16″ 4K (3840 x 2400) OLED display, featuring up to 0.2ms response time, 500 nits brightness and supporting 100% DCI color gamut. -P3 The screen also has VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 and TÜV Rheinland Eyesafe display certifications, to see things big, in relative beauty, and comfortably.
All this being embedded in a 12.95 mm thick chassis for a featherweight of 1.17 kg. According to Acer, that makes it the world’s lightest 16″ OLED display laptop (with the LG Gram 16 not far behind).
An ultraportable PC that wants to be productive and secure
Despite its light character, the Acer Swift Edge still intends to offer good performance. This notably involves the presence of an AMD Ryzen PRO 6000 processor, equipped with 8 Zen 3+ cores engraved in 6 nm. However, nothing has been specified about RAM or storage.
Security should also be there on this Acer laptop. In any case, the Ryzen PRO 6000 series offers some features on this subject, such as Microsoft Pluto on Windows 11. Biometric authentication and a security component on the webcam are also included.
The Swift Edge also does well on the connector side, with an HDMI 2.1 port, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports for fast charging, two USB Type-A ports and an audio jack.
To afford one of the lightest laptops equipped with a 16-inch OLED screen in the world, however, you will have to expect a price starting from 1,299 euros. The release of the Acer Swift Edge is scheduled for us in November.
