Acer: This desk saves you the trip to the gym and reduces your electricity costs

Doing more sport is one of the good intentions of many in 2023. But as so often, everyday life gets in the way. For example, the low temperatures and the dreary wintry weather make going to the gym not exactly tempting. Acer is showing a smart solution to this problem at the CES in Las Vegas with the eKinekt BD Desk.

Work, exercise and charge your cell phone at the same time

Because every morning, whether we want to or not, we have to move to the workplace. Then why not turn it into a kind of “mini gym”? The Acer desk has a bicycle ergometer as a seat instead of a conventional office chair. So you can go for a ride while working and burn calories.

The Acer eKinekt BD Desk converts your invested energy into electricity, which can be used to charge devices such as cell phones or laptops. Two USB A and one USB C port are available for connecting the corresponding devices. According to Acer, one hour of constant cycling at 60 revolutions per minute should result in around 75 watts of self-generated energy.

A small LED display informs you about your activity. A companion app is available for detailed statistics. A drink holder is also included. You can also choose between “Work” and “Sport” modes. In work mode, the tabletop moves closer to the chair so you sit upright. In sport mode, on the other hand, thanks to an increased distance between the plate and the chair, you can “lean in” like on a bicycle.
