The Taiwanese brand presents its SpatialLabs View and SpatialLabs View Pro screens: 15.6-inch 4K models offering stereoscopic 3D without glasses.

More than ten years after the Nintendo 3DS, 3D screens without glasses are gradually returning to the forefront. Samsung, for example, presented a Spatial Reality Display in 2020. On the Acer side, the brand devotes a complete range to this type of device, called SpatialLabs. This includes portable PCs, such as the recent Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition, and of course single monitors. Acer presented two: SpatialLabs View and SpatialLabs View Pro.

Some specs

The designations are sufficiently explicit: the first model targets more individuals, the second more professionals. These two 15.6-inch UHD screens offer stereoscopic 3D without glasses.

We will not dwell on this technology. Broadly speaking, let’s just remember that it consists of displaying different images depending on the angle of view, which allows – for a user with at least two eyes – to simulate a 3D effect.

Acer’s press release is pretty sparse in specs. In addition to those already mentioned, it indicates a weight of less than 1.5 kg and a maximum brightness of 400 cd / m².

50 games supported at launch

SpatialLabs View takes advantage of SpatialLabs TrueGame. It will support more than 50 games at launch; Acer ensures that new games are added every week, ” including today’s AAA titles and classic classics “.

The Pro model stands out with 100% Adobe RGB gamut coverage and additional SpatialLabs features (SpatialLabs Go and SpatialLabs Model Viewer).

Let us mention the possibility import ordinary 2D digital content into a 3D domain to support the Unreal Engine, or access SpatialLabs models and other Model Viewer tools.
