Across the Spider-Verse: will the sequel be released later than expected?

According to an artist who worked on ‘Across the Spider-Verse’, its sequel, ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse’, will likely be delayed…

The first two installments of Sony’s Spider-Verse animated saga, adapted from the Marvel comics, have been a huge hit with critics and audiences alike. The second opus, recently released in cinemas, is also one of the most acclaimed films of the year. And with the cliffhanger it ended on, audiences are already wondering when they’ll be able to see the conclusion of Miles Morales’ story.

The current release date for the third film, titled Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is set for March 29, 2024 in the United States and April 3, 2024 in France. However, as ComingSoon reports, an artist who worked on the second installment told Vulture that there wasn’t enough work on the project to meet its release date.

I’ve seen people say, ‘Oh, they probably worked on it at the same time. There is no chance that this film will be released on this date. There has been progress on the pre-production side. But as far as production goes, the only progress made on the third is explorations or testing that was done before the film was split into two parts. Everyone focused on Across the Spider-Verse and barely crossed the finish line. And now we’re like, ‘Oh yeah, now we have to do the other one.’

It may therefore be that the third opus is delayed if we believe the words of this insider but nothing is confirmed however.

So, while waiting to be able to witness the conclusion of the saga, rediscover – or finally discover if you haven’t already – Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Versestill showing in your nearest cinema.
