Police tear down posters of Israeli hostages

The police in Berlin caught a shitstorm on Platform X. The reason is that officials remove posters showing Israeli hostages. Many people have no understanding at all for the campaign and express clear criticism.
A police operation to remove posters with pictures of Israeli hostages in Berlin has caused outrage. A video shared on the X platform shows police officers removing posters from an advertising pillar. There were pictures of people who had been abducted from Israel by the Islamist terrorist organization Hamas. Many people know similar posters from other parts of Germany. They hang not only on advertising pillars, but often also on traffic lights or lanterns.
Many users criticized the actions of the emergency services. Berlin police chief Barbara Slowik expressed her regret. Slowik said on “This affects me and I deeply regret it.” Regardless of this, the legal assessment of the poster is still pending.
“Irritated and ashamed”
According to the police, the video shows an operation from last Thursday in Berlin-Friedrichshain. “Due to the suspicion of unauthorized posters, our colleagues removed them from the advertising column,” the authority wrote on X. An assessment by the Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office is still pending. The campaign is making waves in the comment columns. In the Berlin police posting, many people express clear criticism of the approach.
For example, one comment says: “The trust of Jewish people in the Berlin police is certainly limitless after the action. How can you? I don’t understand it.” And in another: “I am irritated and ashamed about the removal of the posters by Berlin police officers.”
