Action weeks planned – climate stickers with employees and training camps

In mid-February, the next wave of protests by climate stickers is expected to roll over Vienna. We are now training diligently for this.

For about a year, the last generation has been paralyzing the city at more or less regular intervals. The high point: the week-long wave of protests in mid-January. Now there is bad news. The climate stickers are planning another series of blockades starting on February 13, starting at the Naschmarkt – and this time everything should be even “louder, longer and more intense”. This time it should last two weeks – with an option to extend it. Because the climate activists do not only cause criticism. They are gaining more and more followers with their actions. “In the past few weeks we have had over 300 requests from supporters. We can therefore expand our activities,” said spokeswoman Martha Krumpeck. With the new supporters, the donations seem to be bubbling up as well. The last generation was already able to pocket almost 37,000 euros.Donors enable employeesThe funds now give the environmentalists more leeway. And so that the activists don’t have to deal with banalities such as bills and ordering stickers, members are now employed on a part-time basis for administrative tasks. “We have the money and the legal structure. But nobody gets paid for protest actions,” says Florian Wagner. And: In order for someone to be able to take to the streets in the name of the last generation, he or she has to complete a special training camp. Krumbeck: “Should there be an informer, then he will certainly not be able to prevent the whole action. Our structure is fundamentally such that not everyone knows all the details.”
