185 actors celebrate their coming-out together

Almost 200 German filmmakers have jointly announced their coming out. With #actout, the double life should finally be over.
In a joint campaign under the hashtag #actout, 185 German filmmakers, actors and actresses celebrated their coming-out "among other things as lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, inter and non-binary". With their merger, published via "Süddeutsche Zeitung", they not only want to initiate a long overdue debate in the industry, but also no longer have to lead a double life – sometimes forced from outside.
One of them is the "Tatort" and "Dark" star Mark Waschke (48). The Robert Karow actor from the Berlin edition of the crime series is in illustrious company: Karin Hanczewski (39) alias Kriminaloberkommissarin Karin Gorniak in the Dresden edition of "Tatort" is also on the long list. She is one of the main initiators of the campaign and tells the "SZ": "When I already had the 'crime scene', I was told not to come out before I had my foot in the industry, and we all know that the people who have their feet really inside and also their whole body should definitely not do it. So there is never the right time. "
An end to secrecy
She then spoke to other stars with Mehmet Atesci (34) and found more and more people who take part in #actout. In a joint manifesto it says, among other things: "So far we have not been able to deal openly with our private life in our profession without fear of professional consequences" – and that should finally be over.
Also part of #actout are, to name just a few: Ulrich Matthes (61), actor and president of the German Film Academy, actress and cabaret artist Maren Kroymann (71), the actors Godehard Giese (48), Knut Berger (46), Gerd Wameling (72) and Anian Zollner (51) as well as the actresses Mavie Hörbiger (41), Eva Meckbach (40), Katja Bürkle (43) and Nadine Wrietz (46).
