The third Graphic card of the “Ada Lovelace” generation could see the light of day at the very beginning of next year.
After the GeForce RTX 4090 in mid-October and the RTX 4080 a month later, eyes are on a hypothetical RTX 4070 Ti which would be none other than the old GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB renamed by NVIDIA.
Fire the GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB
We are still talking about the conditional because, officially, NVIDIA has still not confirmed the existence of this RTX 4070 Ti. However, what was originally just a rumor is gaining more substance day after day.
Remember that in September, NVIDIA announced two GeForce RTX 4080s. The first, with 16 GB of memory, came out on time, when the second – with its 12 GB – was canceled at the last minute.
Without really going into details, NVIDIA was content to speak of a “confusing” name to justify the cancellation of a card whose performance seemed quite far from that of the RTX 4080 16 GB.
7,680 CUDA cores on 295 mm²
Today we have new proof of the upcoming arrival of this GeForce RTX 4070 Ti with a snapshot of the GPU that will power the card, the AD104. Logically, the chip is a derivative of the AD102 which equips the RTX 4090.
In total, this brings the number of “Ada Lovelace” GPUs to three with a clearly established hierarchy. The AD102 is the most powerful, also the most bulky with its 608 mm². Then comes the AD103 and its 379 mm². Finally, to bring up the rear, there is an AD104 of “only” 295 mm².
This GPU is therefore more than half the size of that of the RTX 4090. It integrates 7,680 CUDA cores and will be supported by 12 GB of VRAM in GDDR6X at 21 Gbps on a 192-bit bus. The TGP is weaker (285 Watts), but the question that everyone asks is that of the price, obviously.
