“Additional diagnosis” – Many Cov patients because of other ailments in the hospital

A significant proportion of the patients treated in the Tyrolean hospitals who are identified as corona cases apparently come to the hospitals because of other ailments: This year, a Covid infection was a “secondary diagnosis” for around one third. Around two thirds of the Covid patients really needed treatment for the virus in the hospitals.

From Carinthia, for example, it became known at the end of February that the proportion of people among the Covid patients who came to the hospital because of other diseases varied between 50 percent and two thirds. Meanwhile, as of Tuesday, 217 corona patients were being treated in the Tyrolean hospitals , down 16 from the day before. 19 of them required intensive care (plus two). In the past 24 hours, 3,618 new infections were added. At the same time, 2,618 other people had recovered from the virus.
