fun, news, tips… what else?

Santa’s office will be opening soon. Each year, it processes millions of children’s letters. To contact him, you just have to follow a few rules.

Winter is still far away, but some children are already thinking about their Christmas presents. The youngest will no doubt hope to surprise Santa Claus during his rounds. But for that, you will need write him a letter, and of course have been very good. In France, a La Poste service is specially dedicated to these letters from children. They benefit from very special conditions in terms of postage or address, but can only be sent at a certain time of the year.

In this regard, La Poste applies a basic principle: all children have the right to write to Santa Claus. However, some parents may be resistant to the idea of paying a stamp for this. Therefore, letters to santa are free. There is no need to frank them, they will be distributed as soon as they mention the correct address.

How and when to write to Santa Claus

Santa has several “official” mailing addresses. Children can indicate the following:

Monsieur Santa Claus, December 25 Workshop, 250 avenue des Nuages, 1000 Pôle Nord.
Petit Papa Noël, 1 rue du Ciel étoiles, North Pole.
Santa Claus, Avenue des Rennes, Lapland.
Father Christmas, 33500 Libourne, France.

This last address, a little less poetic, is recommended when mail is sent from abroad. However, in the context of a letter sent from France, in principle, the only mention “Santa Claus” is enough for it to be sent to his workshop. Moreover, Santa Claus or one of his elves will be happy to answer. All you have to do is indicate your address on the back of the envelope.

Also note that Santa Claus has entered the digital age. It is therefore possible to send him his card online, on the dedicated La Poste website. Its secretariat, which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2022, will open on November 15. Each year, he receives several million letters processed by around fifty elves.
