“Adjustments to be made”: Ophélie Meunier talks about her new talk show on M6

INTERVIEW

A new talk show is coming to M6. Every Saturday afternoon, viewers will be able to find The Big Week, a current affairs program presented by Ophélie Meunier. The promise: return to current events, analyze and decipher the trends and phenomena of the moment. The first show, recorded this Thursday, attracted between 400,000 and 450,000 viewers on both parts, or 4.4% market share. A decent score for a first broadcast despite a complicated slot for M6.

“I was stressed but from the first feedback I got, we feel that I had a lot of fun. There was a lot of energy, joy on set and we want to continue to give it. I I noticed it on Saturday and I was very happy with it”, confides Ophélie Meunier, guest of Media culture on Europe 1.

After Restricted zone“it’s difficult to imagine yourself anywhere else”

In a more serious register usually, at the controls of Restricted zone for eight seasons, and sometimes presenting the M6 television news, the host has tried a brand new exercise, which seems rather successful. “I really enjoyed the exercise. But when you present a show like Restricted zonewho is part of me and who has been part of French homes for thirty years, it’s difficult to imagine yourself elsewhere, to project yourself,” she explains.

“With the management of the channel, we wondered what we could offer in addition and it’s true that this talk show format, we’ve been talking about it for a long time and we said to ourselves that that could be it. the good idea”, adds Ophélie Meunier at the microphone of Thomas Isle. She specifies that this new talk show is only in its infancy and is not quite complete. “We still have a lot of adjustments to make,” warns the host.

The Big Week was this Saturday a little below the audiences of Apartment hunters, usual meeting offered by M6 at the same time. “We expected that. We know that radio and television are traditional media. Arriving with a new brand, a new format, not seen for more than ten years on M6, but it’s a good basis starting point”, welcomes Ophélie Meunier. She is counting on her group of columnists and their kindness to raise this new show, a real challenge for the sixth French channel.
