Admitted to hospital – welding worker injured by electric shock

Painful day at work for a 23-year-old in the Spittal an der Drau district: for an unknown reason, the young man suffered a severe electric shock while welding.

As required, the worker had attached the grounding to the workpiece to be welded on a company site in Greifenburg. But when the 23-year-old started welding, 380 volts of electricity suddenly ran through his body. Specifically, this entered his left hand and exited again at the gluteal muscle. The injured man ended up in the hospital. After initial care was provided by the alerted members of the Greifenburg Red Cross office, the worker was transported to the Spittal an der Drau hospital with injuries of an indeterminate degree.
