Video editing as “simple” as photo editing
While summer is ostentatiously looming, Adobe is taking the opportunity to launch an update (accessible before June 20, 2022) on its flagship photo processing software, Lightroom. If certain functions already existed, they are improving in particular thanks to a reinforced use of artificial intelligence for an even more automated and easy editing for the photographer.
If it’s not really its primary function, you can totally edit videos in Lightroom. Now, the editing options are a little more advanced, in particular with a standardization of corrections between photos and videos. For example, you can now copy and paste editing settings from a photo to a video, and vice versa. It is also possible to carry out a cutting, limited, of the sequences to put forward such or such piece of the video.
A fine adjustment of presets predefined
These new video features are available on mobile apps and the Lightroom cloud solution, but not on Lightroom Classic. Another novelty, the adjustment of the predefined parameters. It will be possible to adjust the intensity of the presets built-ins from Adobe with a setting-by-setting adjustment instead of a global adjustment. This will provide finer control over certain profiles offered by Lightroom.
In addition, it is now possible to apply presets that automatically target a certain part of the photo thanks to improvements related to AI masking processing. We can then more easily modify the colors and the shade of the sky, or even the texture of the skin.
Masks applied by the AI on an image can also be duplicated on other photos. The software takes care of recalculating automatically and you can, for example, modify multiple different subjects on several photos.
Five new packs of presets**
This update also includes four new photo preset packs, including three dedicated to portraits: Portraits: Black & White, Portraits: Original, Portraits: Band, and Theme: Concerts. Finally, a fifth pack has been specially developed for the moving image: Video: artistic.
Intelligent automatic red-eye correction
For those who still suffer from red-eye damage, Adobe has developed an advanced AI-based correction tool for this ugly artifact. So the artificial intelligence can automatically detect and correct red-eye without you having to tweak the tool too much.
The Discover tab on the Lightroom cloud function also has a search tool to find ideas among the photos uploaded by users of the program. You will be able to propose your ideas for editing a photo posted by others and compare your work with that of other participants.
