  • Firefly, Adobe’s artificial intelligence for creating images and graphics, is now commercially available.
  • Adobe Firefly can be used as a standalone web application as well as in Adobe Express or Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Generative credits are required for use.

The software company Adobe has released a standalone web application for Adobe Firefly. In addition to the web application, the functions of Adobe Firefly are also integrated into Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Express and Adobe Experience Cloud and can now be used commercially.

Adobe Firefly offers you generative AI models for text effects and images. For example, you can describe your idea for an image as text and Adobe Firefly’s AI will generate an image for you based on this description. You can also apply styles or textures to texts by describing them. Adobe Firefly supports prompts in over 100 languages. The content created with Firefly is also approved for commercial use, the company says.

Generative credits are required for use

Adobe is introducing a new credit-based model for generative AI across all of its products, included in paid Firefly, Adobe Express Premium and Creative Cloud plans. The so-called Generative Credits are tokens that you can redeem to convert text-based prompts into image and vector creations in Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Express and Firefly.

Once the set number of Generative Credits has been used up, you can continue to create generative AI images and text effects, but at a reduced speed. You can purchase additional Generative Credit subscription packages if the tariff-specific number of Generative Credits is not enough.
