Adoption of article 1 of the pension reform project

PARIS (Reuters) – Article 1 of the pension bill relating to the disappearance of part of the “special regimes” was adopted on Friday in the National Assembly, where a very heated debate on this disputed text in the street hard since the beginning of the week.

Article 1 of the amending Social Security financing bill was adopted by 181 votes to 163, which was welcomed by the Minister of Labour, Olivier Dussopt.

“Despite the outrages and the obstruction, we are moving forward,” he wrote on Twitter to the opposition.

More than 20,000 amendments have been tabled, including 18,000 by the left-wing Nupes coalition, which has the possibility of withdrawing part of them to speed up the debates, which are due to end at the end of next week.

The examination of article 7 containing the flagship measure of the postponement of the legal retirement age is particularly awaited.

Trade unions called for a fourth day of mobilization on Saturday to protest against the text, with 250 demonstrations planned across the country.

In front of the press on the night of Thursday to Friday in Brussels, President Emmanuel Macron called on the dissatisfied to keep their “spirit of responsibility” so that “disagreements can be expressed, but in calm, respect for goods and people, and with a desire not to block the life of the rest of the country”.
