WhatsApp is seriously considering the introduction of advertisements directly on certain pages of the application.
The Meta group is always looking for new ways to monetize the various large platforms it owns. And this, as always, involves advertising. On the other hand, the WhatsApp messaging application could in turn host commercial announcements!
The subject of “advertising” put on the table
It’s a bit of a chestnut at WhatsApp. Is it possible to integrate advertisements into the application in order to earn more money without inconveniencing the user, who could then switch to a competitor?
It seems that the reflection ended up with a “yes”, as explained by the boss of the application Will Cathcart in an interview given to Brazilian media. According to the latter, advertisements could well appear regularly in WhatsApp in the future.
Private messages should escape
However, you should not expect (for the moment?) to see an ad appear suddenly in your message list or even within a conversation. Not crazy, William Cathcart is instead considering installing announcements on the News page, where the Status and Channels functions are currently grouped.
