(CercleFinance.com) – The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition of the engineering materials business of Koninklijke DSM (in the Netherlands) and the materials business Lanxess High Performance (HPM) in Germany, by Advent International Corporation (USA).
Both DEM and HPM are active in the manufacture and sale of high performance plastics.
The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not raise competition concerns, given that the markets for the supply of high performance plastics, polyamide 6 base polymers and polyamide 6 engineering plastics, where the parties’ activities overlap horizontally , will remain sufficiently competitive after the acquisition.
